Lake Lewisville Fishing Report Factors

Some factors that can affect fish behavior and patterns:

1. Fish can change patterns
2. Fish spawns
3. Fishing pressure
4. Available bait
5. Water levels
6. Water temperature
7. Weather

I’m sure I missed a few, but as a top fishing guide on Lake Lewisville it is my job and responsibility to interpret these changes so I can continue to help customers catch fish and have a great experience doing so. While some customers may want to catch big hybrid bass, some customers may want to catch sand bass so their kids can experience the excitement of catching lots of fish.

Lake Lewisville Fishing Report Reliability

As a fishing guide, I want to be honest with the public as to “true” fishing conditions. If the quality of fishing changes you can count on me to provide an accurate “picture” of what is happening now on Lake Lewisville.

Not all fishing guides will do this…no matter the lake you are thinking of fishing. This is another reason I like to provide photos and video along with dates that fish were caught. Showing visitors photos of fish caught in 2010 or 2011 does not reflect current fishing conditions or the quality of the fish today. I like to show visitors and potential customers visually the type of fish we are catching NOW!

Whether you decide to fish with Downwind Guide Service or another fishing guide on Lake Lewisville or any other lake, here are a few questions you can ask your potential fishing guide:

1. Do you have any current photos of fish caught yesterday or this past week?
2. What is the quality of fish being caught right now? Are they big, small, etc.
3. Are customers catching fish limits?
4. Is fishing action better, average, or poor for this time of year?

Customers have an obligation to let their fishing guide know what kind of fishing they want to do. Size & quantity of fish don’t always align; Catching lots of fish may or may not mean big fish. Let your fishing guide know if you want to catch more than one type of fish. This can help your fishing guide fish the way you want, but also help to meet your expectations for the fishing trip.

Hi Kevin!!

We are finally calming down from our morning adventure with you and Josh. I’ ll send picks later in individual email since it takes forever to attached them in an email.  We all had an amazing time this morning and it was the BEST fresh water fishing experience we have ever had!  We can’t believe how many and how huge the hybrids were and how much fun it was pulling them in.  All my son kept saying was “that was an awesome trip – thank you, thank you, thank you!”

We came home and re-cleaned all the fish that you fillet for us and put it in the freezer.  We did take two filets on the 1/2 shell and some of the bass and I seasoned one fillet with a lemon-pepper seasoning and the other I did a spicy Louisiana-style seasoning similar to your suggestion and we were so pleased by the flavor. Hands down, we did all prefer the spicy version.  Then I took some of the bass fillets and did a beer batter – awe so good!!

Thank you again for taking us this morning!  We had a fantastic time not only catching these amazing fish but hanging out with you and Josh.  Ya’ll are so friendly and laid back but so hard working to ensure we had a great time… and we did.  You exceeded our expectations by far and we will be back!  Like Bradley said, “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you’ guys for such a great time -  you made our family’s day!

Downwind Guide Service is pleased to provide you with another Lake Lewisville fishing report for the week of April 9th thru 15th, 2012.

The hybrid bass have been amazing and we’ve found them to be hitting hard both morning and evening fishing trips. The sand bass have been good, but we have found several trips where they didn’t feed as aggressively as we like…even with live bait. Sand bass have been found it cuts, deep and shallow water.  We have had several trips where clients limited out on hybrids in an hour and we ended up doing catch & release the remainder of the trip.

It looks like the hybrids have finished spawning and they are hitting live bait aggressively. The weather has been great. The weather forecast is calling for possible showers this coming week, but I’ll take you fishing until first sign of lightening.

April 6, 2012 – We un-officially broke the lake Lewisville youth fishing record with an 8.5 lb. hybrid bass.

Bryson and his dad nearly broke the Lake Lewisville youth fishing record for hybrid bass on March, 24, 2012.

The current lake youth record is 8.09 lbs. / 26 1/2″ on July 10th, 2010 caught on a slab. Bryson’s hybrid weighed 7.25 lbs and was 24.25 inches long…keep trying Bryson, you’re sure to break the record sooner or later.

Downwind Guide Service Testimonial: Lake Lewisville Fishing

Last Friday (March 23, 2012), my son and I had quite the great fishing excursion on Lake Lewisville. I wasn’t familiar with the lake, and wanted to increase the chance of my son and I having a productive fishing experience. So I simply looked up ‘fishing guides’ under Google and there was downwindguideservice.com at the top. So I clicked on it, immediately called, and within 5 minutes had a fishing appointment set up with captain Kevin (guide) later that same day. What a day it was. The moment Kevin told me he wakes up at dawn to catch his own bait to have for the clients that day told me this guy goes above and beyond. That proved to be correct when the baits were lowered at first anchor and within a few minutes (if that) multiple poles were being yanked and bent due to sand bass attacking those live shads. It was non-stop reeling for the next 4 hours, and my son even caught several hybrids about every 4th-5th fish or so. He almost set a junior lake record at almost 25 inches, just under 8 lbs., and over 17 inches in girth. It was incredible and caught on video. Record aside, I caught my fair share of hybrid as well. Kevin’s guiding skills were top-notch. We never even had to move. We floated the same little area for all the fish we caught, which was near 50 total. There were about 6-7 other boats near us fishing with very little action (some even none at all unfortunately), which was a testament for Kevin having superior bait. He also interacted perfectly with my son, and rapport is important. Overall, just an awesome experience. I will be calling Downwind Guide Service again soon to catch more fish.
